ABOUT ME

Hi there! I am Kahil (kah-hill), I am a 22 year-old graphic designer and illustrator from South Africa. Currently I am studying towards a Bachelor's degree in Communication Design and Illustration. I have always been interested in design and art and it is one of my main passions. In my work, I include my three values which are: Detail, Creativity , and most importantly, Representation. A lot of my work is inspired by Hayao Miyazaki as well as Yayoi Kusama. I have done some freelance work before. I have had experience in designing posters, artworks, editorial layouts as well as corporate identities. My designs and illustrations do not have a fixed style as I prefer to learn and adapt styles as I believe that constantly learning will not only better my technical skills but will also enhance my creativity.

Detail:
Part of designing and illustrating is constantly being able to be creative. A lot of the times creators will suffer from an artistic block. In order to avoid this I constantly challenge myself to illustrate and design whatever comes to mind and a lot of those times the end product is nothing like how I imagined it to be!

Creativity:
Attention to detail is everything to me. Detail in design/illustration is what separates good design/art from the great. everytime I design or illustrate i get lost in the details for hours. Adding detail and patterns to an artwork is my favourite part of the creative process!

Representation:
In all of my designs and illustrations i strive to bring representation to those who do not see it often. I want to be able to accurately and proudly depict minorities in my artworks. My mission is to allow those who do not see themselves in modern art to know that they are beautiful and worthy of being represented in the art world.
